Furthering our commitment to corporate responsibility and transparency: The United Nations Global Compact and Communication on Progress
This Corporate Responsibility Report is part of Pfizer’s commitment to the United Nations Global Compact and Communication on Progress — a network of UN agencies, corporations, non-governmental organizations, labor, and academic institutions that endorse a shared set of principles on good corporate citizenship. In October 2002, Pfizer was the first U.S. pharmaceutical company to sign the UN Global Compact.
We signed the Compact because we wanted to find common ground with influential critics on issues that are important to them and to us — and to do so on a foundation of global principles recognized by external stakeholders. Since then, the Compact has served as a catalyst for Pfizer as we develop new alliances, new insights on the connection between business success and corporate citizenship, and deeper engagement with employees.
Signatories to the Compact are required to annually report their activities in support of their commitment in order to ensure and further the commitment of participants, safeguard the integrity of the initiative, and create a rich repository of corporate practices that serves as a basis for continuous performance improvement. For us, it is also a tool to exercise leadership, facilitate learning, stimulate dialogue and promote action.
We take our commitment to the Global Compact seriously and have verified that this report meets the Compact’s requirement for communicating our progress. The report is also available on the Compact’s Web site at www.unglobalcompact.org.
Pfizer has been named a Notable Communication on Progress Organization by the UN Global Compact for our best practices in communicating progress.
The Healthier World podcast series explores issues of global health. Each episode is approximately 2 minutes.
